About

Staff-level engineering across the stack, not a single layer of it.

I started out in mobile engineering, shipping production Android applications and learning what it actually takes to keep software working once real users depend on it. Over time I moved deeper into the stack — APIs, databases, backend services, infrastructure — until the boundary between "mobile developer" and "backend developer" stopped being useful for describing the work.

Today I work at staff level, which in practice means I spend as much time on architecture decisions, code reviews, production debugging and technical direction as I do writing code. I am comfortable owning a feature end to end: clarifying the requirement, designing the data model and the API, building the interface, validating it on staging and standing behind it after release.

I care about the parts of engineering that show up months later — clear boundaries, readable code, sensible migrations, useful logs and tests that catch real regressions. I would rather ship something simple that holds up than something clever that becomes someone else's problem.

How I work

The habits that survive the first release.

  1. 01

    Ownership over hand-off

    A feature is not done when the pull request merges. I stay with it through staging, release and whatever the first week in production turns up.

  2. 02

    Understand the business problem first

    Most bad architecture starts as a misunderstood requirement. I would rather spend an extra hour on the problem than a month on the wrong solution.

  3. 03

    Simple beats clever

    Code is read far more often than it is written. If a simpler design gets us to the same place, that is the one worth defending in review.

  4. 04

    Build for the second year

    Clear module boundaries, honest data models and sensible migrations are what let a system keep changing without becoming risky to touch.

  5. 05

    Reliability is a feature

    Meaningful tests, useful logs and predictable failure handling matter more to users than anything on the roadmap when something breaks.
